Bill Blake. A Forgettable Sack of Ufological Dung.

Greetings. The behavior of certain persons never ceases to amaze, which it really shouldn't since such personal choices seem to have become more and more socially acceptable, and commonplace, as time has gone on. I am never surprised by what I see and hear, only occasionally taken aback by such behaviors. This particular writing describes one such sad occasion, thanks to the abhorrent actions of one Bill Blake.

Our horror story began a few short days ago. While meandering on Facebook, I came across a post that my friend Don Schmitt posted on his personal timeline. The article in question featured an interview with Steven Greer, who was labeled as a "UFO expert." Mr. Bill Blake left behind a comment which subsequently kicked off the following sordid series of actions. 

Mr. Blake's comment reads as follows, and I quote:

"There are a plethora of UFO experts. People like Linda Moulton Howe, Dr. Stephen Greer, Richard Dolan, Giorgio Tsoukalos, Stanton Freeman, Paul Hellyer, and many many more. UFOs and Extraterrestrials, Are They Real? The Answer is Absolutely YES! That assertion comes from 8 years of study and research. Disclosure is coming soon. Almost every day, there is commentary about UFOs on all the cable news channels. These people are very credible whistleblowers and government officials."

Don responded with the following comment, and I quote: 

"I repeat - No such thing. Of all of the aforementioned, not a one of them had or has any answers." 

Finally, unfortunately, Mr. Blake responded, and I quote: 

"Are you that stupid and naive? You must have your head stuck in the sand, or better yet, up your ass."

Don't wipe your eyes, you read that last comment right. Mr. Bill Blake decided to act like an immature, belligerent teenager, or if one has the motivation to call it like it is, he decided to act like a disrespectful asshole towards another human being, in this case a man who is always a gentleman to anyone he comes into contact with. Putting aside the embarrassing comment Mr. Blake left behind, which made references to "experts" like Paul Hellyer, Linda Moulton Howe, Richard Dolan, and Giorgio Tsoukalos, this old sack of shit is evidently incapable of spelling Steven Greer correctly. Stephen?? What a fucking embarrassment! 


Under normal circumstances, I would not get directly involved in the actions of an asshole, of which there are quite a few in UFO circles, yours truly included, but Don is a dear friend and a true gentleman. I cannot and will not sit on my hands quietly to watch a friend get disrespected by anyone.  

In the past, I have written extensively about some of the less than professional individuals in the UFO subculture, and their unfortunate and counterproductive courses of action; Dave Scott, Rich Hoffman, Robert Powell, Rich Giordano, and the 'esteemed' Peter Robbins, among others. Regardless of my opinions on each of the aforementioned persons, I have always refused to stoop to the childish level of name-calling and character assassination, in fact, I still respect them all, excepting Mr. Robbins. One can hold people accountable for their professional indiscretions and still respect them as individuals. It is a fine line, but it can be walked successfully. 

Mr. Blake is not deserving of such respect. 

Mr. Blake's behavior demonstrates that he is a rude, pompous, sack of shit.

Doubt, Reason, and Free Inquiry, Not to be Tolerated in the UFO Subculture.

The belief in unidentified flying objects is passionate, beyond what the English language can adequately describe.  The situation has progressed to the point that many aspects of ufological belief structures strongly resemble religious belief structures, complete with their own set of prophets (Bob Lazar, George Knapp, Jeremy Corbell, Luis Elizondo,) mythologies (Aztec, Aurora, Trinity, Kingman, Maury Island, etc.,) and even a day of deliverance (disclosure.) Ufological Pushback Against the Scientific Method and its Proponents? A Hypocritical Course of Action.

Greetings. Why is a data-driven, skeptical, dispassionate approach to the UFO problem viewed in such a negative light by some in the UFO subculture?  Why does the application of the scientific method garner such consistent pushback from some in the UFO subculture? While there have been some historical examples of credentialed scientists taking a look at the UFO problem, such occurrences are relatively rare, and certainly not the norm. The UFO phenomenon and its attached subculture, have always been viewed in a negative light by the greater scientific research community.
